Curved buildings

Whatever the shape, whatever the structural challenge, Catania Group responds with the most suitable engineering solutions. Curved and variable section buildings are easily constructed thanks to the use of curved beams worked with pantographs and industrial calenders. The edge beams are made on request with integrated curved metal formwork.

The shapes of the beams are designed to be able to contain also the descents of the systems inside, ensuring maximum flexibility of the construction system.

Requests for thick multi-floor slab pillars

Thanks to the use of special joints and the technology of multi-storey pillars with wet nodes , the PREM system proposed by Catania Group allows the construction of buildings of any height with prefabricated pillars and retractable shelves.

Once the floor has been cast, the upper floor is created by first positioning the pillars in their final position, then leveling them and ensuring the perfect verticality of the columns (both metal and reinforced concrete), then shimming and fixing the mechanical joints with a torque wrench , then completing the casting of the knot with emaco mortar .
All this is completed by positioning and casting beams and floors or alternatively formwork and reinforcement for full cross casting, then proceeding as just described for the above slabs.

Speed ​and safety

The light prefabrication system proposed by Catania Group guarantees at the same time speed and safety in the execution of the works .

If studied in the design phase, the parapet systems and perimeter protection of the yard and can be integrated with the edge beams , in order to eliminate the risk of falling from the floor and to reduce the costs of securing.

Prefabricated systems suitable for any type of slab

Beams and columns are designed and manufactured in such a way that they adapt flexibly to any type of slab, whether it is a “predalles” type slabhollow core slabslab made of reinforced concrete slab made of corrugated sheet metal, a full-bodied slab, etc. This allows the use of the PREM system in civil, industrial, commercial, office and infrastructure (subways, airports, bridges, etc.) structures.

Two or three way earthquake-proof beam-to-column connection with thick slab

The shear stress transfer and beam-to-pillar momentum mechanisms can either be pendular or hyper static depending on the design needs; in any case, whether it is a 2, 3 or 4 way connection, the column-beam joint must be designed upon request in order to absorb the wind pressure and the seismic shock by using beams created using thick slab beams depending on the architectural requirements.

The use of closed hook clamps guarantees the necessary concrete confinement in the building of earthquake-proof buildings.

Welding certification

The high-strength steel used in the reinforcement of the pillars and beams is assembled with fully repaired welding certified in the factory.

The continuous quality controls in the factory guarantee the delivery on site only of products with a guarantee certificate, whose welds have passed numerous cohesive capacity tests .
